How to Clean Cloth Car Seats

Supplies:

1. Cleaning solution spray designed for fabric (NOT an all-purpose cleaner)
2. Interior brush (make sure they have soft or medium-stiff bristles)
3. Microfiber towels

Instructions:

1. Before you get started, make sure you have enough time to allow your seats to dry completely.
2. Vacuum the seats to remove all particles and hair.
3. If you have a pet, you might need to do a second wipe down with a special pet hair removal tool.
4. Ensure the doors and windows are open for ventilation
5. Spray the cleaning solution onto the desired area, but avoid saturating the fabric. If the seats stay too wet for too long, mildew issues could develop.
6. Use the interior brush to massage the cleaning solution into the fabric.
7. A suds appear, wipe them away with the microfiber towel. If the fabric dries before you do this, the dirt will be pulled back into the fibers.
8. Continue steps 4-6 until the area is clean, then move on to the next section.
9. Vacuum the seats after cleaning to speed up the drying process. Let the seats finish drying before you use the car or lock it away for the evening.

How to Clean Leather Car Seats

Supplies:

1. Leather cleaner, saddle soap, mild leather soap, or 1 part white vinegar/2 parts linseed oil solution
2. Microfiber towels
3. Interior brush (make sure it is a soft-bristled brush, NOT a stiff carpet brush)

Instructions:

1. Check the owner’s manual for model-specific instructions, product recommendations, and products that you should definitely avoid.
2. Vacuum the seats to remove all particles, and work carefully to avoid scratching the leather. Use small attachments or an air compressor to get into the crevices.
3. Spray leather cleaner on the microfiber towel. Wipe the seats to remove surface dirt and oils.
4. Spray cleaner onto the seats and gently scrub the surface with the brush.
5. If you have perforated leather seats, spray onto the brush before applying to the seats.
6. Wipe the seats with a clean and dry microfiber towel.
